5 Quick Ways to Freshen Up Your Website



When was the last time you updated your website?  Does it look the same as it did when you first opened your business?  Does it provide an accurate picture of what it feels like to do business with you?  If I visited your site a year ago, would there be anything new to catch my attention if I visited today?

In order to make your website an interesting online destination for your target market, you need to keep it looking new and fresh.  I can feel the panic rising, but stay with me for a minute here - this does not necessarily mean a top to bottom revamp - a website can be freshened up easily with very little effort!

Check out these 5 quick ways to freshen up your website:



Do you have team bios on your website?  The Team page is often a well visited page, as people like to learn about other people, so even if your team = just you, you should have some “get to know me” details accessible to visitors, and updating the content is a quick and easy way to freshen up your site.  To do this, we suggest asking your team for a quick answer to an interesting question (What Hogwarts House do you belong in? What’s your favourite way to kick off a Monday?) to add to their bio, or have them share a link to something that tells the reader a little bit about their personality (their favourite cat video, or a new app that’s helping their workday productivity)



Do you have a portfolio of work on your website? When was the last time you updated it?  There might be some awesome work that you haven’t added yet that you really want people to see!



Just change them up a little!  Swap out your old office photos for new ones, or a new view of the space.  If you use predominantly stock photos just slide in some new folks sitting around that boardroom table - new faces freshen everything up!



Take a quick read over your content - is it accurate?  On brand? Does it sound like you? We evolve so much as our businesses do, but we don’t often take the time to make sure our website content has kept up with the new versions of us.  Make sure the words people will read from you are giving them an accurate picture of who you are right now.



Change up the way you collect visitor emails!  If you have a stationary button right now, consider switching to a pop-up box.  If you’ve had a pop-up box running for awhile, change back to a stationary button.  People respond differently to these two presentations, so changing it up every now and then not only makes your website appear new, it can also draw in folks who are resistant to one method or the other. You can also simply change the colour or the language used on your button / pop-up to get a new look.
