Facebook Posts that Work - 3 Quick Tips

Are you posting and posting and getting nothing but crickets?
Here’s a few tips that we share with our clients, that just might help you as you develop your Facebook strategy:

1. Keep your posts short... or long
When writing a "text only" post, mid-length is to be avoided. Keep this type of post to either less than 120 charachters or take it all the way with a few full paragraphs.
2. Reading articles you intend to share is non-optional
This is a rule for 2 reasons. One, because clickbait and misleading headlines are real things and we should not be giving them any further reach. And two, because providing context with a shared post will increase the likelihood that your audience will choose to engage with the content. Don’t share a post without writing a sentence or two (remember rule 1!) to tell your audience why you think they should read it, or what you think about it.
3. Use a variety of post types
Facebook uses a complicated algorithm to decide how many of your followers actually see what you post. While the algorithm is frequently changing, it seems that currently, posts with audio/visual components get the greatest organic reach. The top 3 performers are: Facebook Live videos, Facebook videos, and Photos. The 2 lowest performing types of posts are those that include links to pages with lots of ads, and cross posted content using third party software.
We believe that the best way to get your Facebook posts to reach the people you want to talk to, is to make them as authentic as possible, and use them as a way for your audience to get to know you.
